The Ecuadorian Amazon covers an area of 120.000 km2 of lush vegetation typical of tropical rainforests, in the heart of the Amazon Basin.
Among the main attractions of the Amazonia, one can find lush vegetation, great fauna diversity, a variety of ethnic cultures and also the protected natural areas like the Yasuni National Park. The Yasuni National Park is declared by Unesco a BIOSPHERE RESERVE, and among others are part of a large national system of Ecuadorian protected areas. The main tourist route is the Napo River, a major tributary of the Amazon River.
The Amazon ecosystem, particularly the tropical rain forests, is considered one of the richest and most complex plant and animals habitats in the world. The most important feature of the region is the existence of a prolific flora and fauna along with extraordinary changes in macro and micro-habitats.
